My wife and I are local and had a Dible & Roy designer come out to our house to help us choose curtains that would match the colour and style of our barn conversion. We picked out a sample and paid the deposit. The curtains were made and when they arrived, looked absolutely nothing like the grey we had chosen. In fact, they looked pink. I phoned Dible & Roy and explained that they look nothing alike and was told that they could not accept them back but they would give us a discount if we purchased others that looked more like the sample they had originally given us. After almost 6 months of not receiving the final payment invoice, I had them dyed to the sample colour. A few weeks later, they sent the final invoice. I explained that we have had to get them dyed to the sample colour at roughly £600 and we felt it fair to deduct that off the final payment as it had cost us that amount to get it to the sample colour..and I sent the remaining funds. They responded with a disgusting email stating that the curtains are still theirs until we have paid and that we had no right to dye them (I'm happy to provide the email). They have now threatened me with legal action. As mentioned, my wife and I are local and I wish we had listened to other locals about steering clear of D&R. We have spent thousands of pounds with them over the years as we try to support local businesses. We were not aware of their tainted reputation up until asking advice from local friends (who will not shop with them from similar experiences). They would not accept the curtains back on the day of installation and our mistake was that we should have driven them down to their shop. Please learn from this and ask locally about their reputation before buying from them. Local friends had a good giggle that we are now on the list of being caught out by D&R. The proof is in the pudding I'm afraid. Stay safe and stay clear of them. We will never use them again after this appalling experience.
